Hanoi

Today we ventured out of the old quarter of Hanoi, (where we are staying) and went to the Royal City - which is a newer modern part of town with a HUGE shopping mall!

This is what it looked like above ground. But underneath us is a two story mall - with shops, resturants, an ice skating rink and a water park!!!

We spent our afternoon at the water park on all the rides. Some of them were very scary! One ride you stood in a capsule and then they opened a trap door. You fell straight down into the slide and then twisted your way to the bottom. (We were both too scared to do this one - and Shaun didn't want to get his wool wet!)

The orange and green slide and yellow and green slide are the ones with a trap door!!
Look how steep the red slide is!!

This was one of our favourite rides!! The speed racer. Some of the other rides we got to go in a double tube!! It was heaps of fun and the best thing about it was the place was pretty much empty so we never had to wait in lines!!

Once we had finished slipping and sliding we had tea at the mall. We went to a buffet place where you got to cook your own food!

Then we went back above ground. The Royal City was even more beautiful at night.

Tomorrow morning we are getting picked up for our Halong Bay cruise.

  1. Good afternoon Miss Grant, Kirsty and Shaun. Wow what an awesome water park! We all think that we should take a school trip there! The water slides looked like so much fun- most of our class think we would try the trap door! Miss McCulloch isn't so sure... What was your favourite food that you got to cook? Are you going to give us a photo of the clothes that you got made? You all look like you are having so much fun! Love the Matai Team xo

    1. Great to hear from you again Matai! The water park was a lot of fun, I think you all would have enjoyed it. What a great idea for a school trip! I think our favourite food would have been the prawns! Vietnam is on the coast so we have been eating lots of yummy seafood.
I got some of the clothes I got made sent straight to London - because it is so hot here I don't need much. We also have to carry our packs a lot so didn't want to make my bag too heavy!
Hope you are all well at Clutha valley - can't be long until the school holidays?
